- [Lecture Report] NIKKEI FT Communicable Diseases Conference at Expo Special Edition “Discussing Future Infectious Communicable Diseases with the Next Generation” (Nikkei Inc., October 9, 2025, Osaka, Yumeshima)
On October 9, 2025, Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) Chair, Mr. Ryoji Noritake participated in the Expo Special Edition of the 12th NIKKEI FT Communicable Diseases Conference, organized by Nikkei Inc, and held in a hybrid format at the Expo Theme Week Studio of the Expo 2025 Osaka.
This session highlighted the key points from four main topics explored during the 12th Nikkei-FT Infectious Disease Conference plenary: “International Collaboration,” “Innovation,” “Strategic Resource Allocation,” and “Information and Communication,” each presented by its session chair, followed by an exchange with students who will shape the future of infectious disease control to discuss the challenges ahead.
Mr. Noritake, chair of the “International Collaboration (Agenda1 – Improving Global Health Security through Broad-ranging Collaboration)” session, commented that infectious disease control extends beyond the realms of global health and international cooperation, and is directly linked to both national and international security. He emphasized the importance of building cooperative frameworks involving civil-military collaboration and public-private-academic partnerships, alongside the utilization of wastewater surveillance, to achieve a more effective and inclusive infectious disease crisis response. Mr. Noritake also underlined the need for open discussion and expressed hope for emerging debates that incorporate humanities perspectives into the discourse on infectious disease control.
