[Announcement] HGPI Endorsed the “Davos Compact on Antimicrobial Resistance” (September 18, 2025)

On September 18, 2025, Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) and AMR Alliance Japan endorsed the Davos Compact on AMR (Antimicrobial Resistance).

Following the “Political Declaration of the High-level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance” adopted at the UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance 2024 (UNGA 2024 HLM AMR), and with the review of the Quadripartite Joint Secretariat on AMR, the Global Future Council on AMR of the World Economic Forum (WEF) developed the Davos Compact on Antimicrobial Resistance in September 2025. This Compact provides a platform for endorsing organizations to demonstrate their commitment to supporting meaningful, coordinated action against AMR.

To implement the Compact into concrete actions, the WEF launched the United Coalition for AMR Response (UCARE) at the 2025 Davos annual meeting. UCARE aims to significantly reduce AMR-related deaths by 2050 and save over 100 million lives. Its work focuses on four key areas: Innovation and Access (Antimicrobials, Diagnostics, and Vaccines), Awareness and Advocacy, Sustainable Agri-Food Systems, and Promoting Multisectoral Engagement and Funding.

As endorsing organizations of the Davos Compact on Antimicrobial Resistance, HGPI and AMR Alliance Japan will continue to actively contribute to sustainable and effective AMR countermeasures, collaborating with stakeholders both domestically and globally.

The full text of the Davos Compact on Antimicrobial Resistance is available on the WEF website.
