[Activity Report] Humanitarian Congress Tokyo 2022 Session 1 – “Time to face the ‘Silent Pandemic’ of AMR – Roles of Medical and Humanitarian Actors” (May 19, 2022)

On May 19, 2022, President of the Japanese Association for Infectious Diseases (a member of AMR Alliance Japan; secretariat: Health and Global Policy Institute, HGPI) Professor Hiroshi Yotsuyanagi (Director, IMSUT Hospital, The Institute of Medical Science, The University of Tokyo; President, The Japanese Association for Infectious Diseases) participated in Humanitarian Congress Tokyo 2022, co-hosted by Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Professor Yotsuyanagi spoke during Session 1, “Time to face the ‘Silent Pandemic’ of AMR – Roles of Medical and Humanitarian Actors.”

During the session, in addition to giving a general overview of initiatives from HGPI and AMR Alliance Japan, Professor Yotsuyanagi spoke on topics like the positioning of AMR in the Government of Japan’s Basic Policy on Economic and Fiscal Management and Reform and activities for AMR from the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) and AMED Public and Private Partnerships for Infectious Diseases R&D.
